With big hitters in both the sides and smaller boundaries of Sharjah. The Saturday evening can’t be more exciting than this.
Let’s have a look at some key battles for the match.
Prithvi Shaw on his day can rip apart any bowler with his wide range of shots. He batted magnificently well against CSK but has failed on the other 2 occasions. DC expects this young opener to give them a great start and set base strong for the finishers. Cummins has finally arrived at the party. He came into the tournament as the most expensive player of the season, with expectations on cards he didn’t have a great first match. But he has been lethal in the last 2 matches. Not allowing batsmen to open the arms and building pressure from one end helps others around to get those breakthroughs. Shaw will be prepared to face this tall quick rookie and look to score some runs against him.
Captain Iyer has played steadily so far. Not looking to play aggressive shots and trying to be an anchor. His natural game is attacking and given a platform he has the capability to clear any ground any day. DC would want their skipper to play more positively and lead from the front. Narine is not the mysterious bowler anymore that he used to be. But he still is the lead spin bowler for KKR side, and they would want him to take up the responsibility. Playing on Sharjah with shorter boundaries, it will be a difficult job for spinners but Narine must make sure he becomes a threat to DC.
Russell hasn’t fired on all cylinders so far in the tournament. He got a start against Rajasthan but fell prey for a wide yorker outside off stump. Sharjah has witnessed more than 60 sixes so far and Russell will be itching to add many more to this count. Rabada is an example for other fast bowlers on how one can reap benefits with sheer speed and accuracy. He has been the most lethal bowler of the tournament. With all the teams so far keeping their best bowlers’ overs for Russell, it will be Rabada from DC and he knows how to knock Russell out. He has done it in the past and it will become a great battle to witness at Sharjah.
3 years ago, Rana was the youngster who walked into KKR’s side, played some exciting, fearless cricket, and was looked upon as the future of KKR. But he has faded away since last year and this time as well he has got good starts but not been able to capitalize on the same. KKR would like Rana to find his form back and score heavy runs for them. Mishra is the second most successful IPL bowler and he had a good match against SRH. Taking 2 key wickets, he got the breakthrough that DC would have wanted. On smaller Sharjah grounds, it will be the responsibility of Mishra to not give away many runs and contain the strong KKR batting line up.
