Time for some reflection over the inside journey,

2020 – This year has been a rollercoaster ride for each and every one of us. Many unexpected circumstances have come around. We have faced those challenges and came on top of it, and have reached the last lap. It’s been a hell of a ride for all of us, at Zooters too!
I’ve always been on the backside of Zooters and decided to shade some light over this side of the story as well.
“It all started with a crazy idea and one thing lead to another and overnight, this happened…”, that’s not the story I’m about to share here. I’m here to share how my experience has been while developing the Zooters app. And yes! I would say it’s looking very exciting at this point when we are on the last lap! But it was not the same from start.
So here’s how it began. We came up with some other idea around the world of Cricket, it was a great idea, we all friends loved it. But to be honest, that idea was and maybe still is a bit out of our domain of knowledge. We struggled a lot behind it and then we did a pivot. Making current Zooters! as the center rather than a sideline as we had initially charted out. And then we started the sprint runs!
The journey so far…
We learned a lot during this whole process. Building an app requires lots and lots of planning along with better execution. We all began with the ad-hoc process. Having an idea of what we need is one thing and getting it executed as that is a whole different story. We too started with a chaotic approach. Slowly we began to plan and align ourselves at each and every step, learning from the previous one.
Coming to the main game, developing an app of this level was no easy thing, I and my team have had sleepless nights, coding sprints of 13-14 hours on weekends, 3-4 hour long Zoom calls of discussions over a feature which looks rather simple when it’s in hands of the user. Reaching this point is a sum of all those long hours of discussions, designing, coding, testing, and so many things coming together. There has been a lot of cooking on the backside of things, which is why it looks so simple, crisp, and easy for users. I’ve been getting my ass handed to me a number of times by the bugs and use-cases, which I’ve not even thought of, kept showing up and now they’ve been smashed in a Hulk-y way! 😎
We’ve been running like hell, getting across the hurdles and learning to stand after every fall. Oh, yes! we have had good amounts of falls, starting from over or under-estimations, miscommunications due to no physical meetings, thanks to lockdown, wrong validations, so many things that we’ve come across during the building process.
The last lap!
There’s a lot more to say, but what’s fun without a little mystery? I’ll keep sharing the inside story from my end, time and again.
And here we are it’s been approximately 5 months of core app development and testing for this app to reach out to users, which is going to happen very soon! 🎉
We’ll be catching up soon! ✌🏼Till then, watch out for us!
